Taucu - salted soya beans in malay telur - eggs in malay I was surfing for the recipe, and it generated way too many different ones. But i did not come across my mum's style. Anyway, we eat alot of north indian and malay/indonesian food at mum;s. And most of the malay dishes were taught by my second maternal grandma. My first maternal grandma only cooks indian. My second maternal grandma ( may Allah swt bless her with jannah) taught her to cook most malay food. And this second grandma is of Bugis origins, so am not sure if that could be the reason why some of the style is different. Anyways, this is our household favourite. My dad who does not fancy much malay food, likes it too. But if there is chapati and vegetable, then forget about making him eat this. Sigh! lol Anyway, mums original recipe calls for Belimbing, Lime Leaves and Lemon Grass. But on days, she did not have the needed herbs , she used to make do w/o them. And it was still yummy !!!! And since we do not have the blessing of enjoying belimbing here, i have substituted it with Tomatillo. Its really sour, so works fine.
